Finger Limes

    2 responses

I have just purchased a dwarf lime from Daleys to grow in a pot - because of restricted space and having to move it around seasonally for best sun. Would a finger lime produce well if kept in a pot? If so, would you recommend in particular one for this purpose?
Many thanks

I have one in a pot. It has been neglected and struggles a bit but I get fruit off it. The are an understory plant so dont need full sun. The are VERY thorny. With potted citrus it is necessary to repot them every two or three years so make sure your pot is wider at the top. Square pots are also easier to depot.Use a quality "vegy" potting mix. I preserve my limes in cold sugar syrup. Then after at least 6 months, eat them whole as a yummy vitamin C boost.

Thanks Geoff, that's encouraging. Can't make up my mind which one now - thought the red would look nice in summer salad dressings - I don't imagine there would be a great difference in the flavour. Your recipe sounds delicious. Cheers
