HI all, I have 17 varieties of fruit now growing in my standard aussie house block.. Just wondering what to spray them with during winter ..I had Curl Leaf on Peaches...It still produced heaps of large juicy peaches.. and was told to spray them with white oil during winter, but reading the directions on the can says Dont use in winter on fruit trees.. so i am a bit lost..
MY passionfruit is being eaten at a rapid rate too so what can i spray on it too?? my avacado has brown patches on the end of all its leaves and looking very sad..also it's staked and very top heavy with leaves wondering if should remove the stake and harden it up a bit???I cut back the grapes but also didnt get any fruit last year.. does it take a few years to produce??
Thanks if anyone can help with any of the above problems
Sue

Hi Sue - u need to use a bordeaux spray (or Kocide - same-ish) for leaf curl. Just follow instructions on packet. It can't be used on some things but can't remember which (apricots?) Others know more about Avo's than me - mine did the same as yours but ended up dying - they need high quality water (no salinity) and absolutely no waterlogging.

You can try weaning it off the stakes - I use stockings for this as they allow movement which gradually strengthens the tree - then I loosen them gradually over a cupla seasons until they can be removed.

Your grapevine may need either spur or cane pruning - generally - use cane puning for sultanas and spur for others. This is done every year and your vine should carry fruit in 2nd or third year ok. Be careful not to overdo it (my hubby killed one of ours :( ..

White oil is better for scale bugs. I use Eco-oil and mix in pyrethrum - this is more effective at killing leaf miner too.

Depends what your passionfruit being eaten by? If it's caterpillers try Dipel - it's safe. If it's grasshoppers - try pythrethrum. U may be getting a free pruning service for spring...if u can live with the damage?

I hope this helps - good luck! :)
