Jason starts with ... Since we have just had some showers here in Perth its an excellent time to find all the snails coming out of the wood work. I went out tonight with the torch and found some extraordinary slugs. (Thats were all the dog biscuits are going!)

Julie says... People with weak stomachs - don't read this! For the last two years I have collected hundreds of snails. I put them in large ice cream containers, put the lids on firmly and cover with water. A couple of months later - liquid fertiliser. I like the idea of the litle buggers putting back what they took out! It does smell awful for a while though, but water it in and the smell goes away. This winter has not been so bad, maybe because I caught so many before, especially little ones. | About the Author Roleystone WA 27th October 2009 7:21pm #UserID: 0 Posts: View All 's Edible Fruit Trees |

Julie says... Jason, what DO you mean? Roleystone and Karagullen is where a lot of your locally grown fruit comes from. The soil varies from one block to another, but in the valleys is very rich and loamy. You can grow anything here. Some people's blocks are totally snail-free, I don't know why I had so many. | About the Author Roleystone WA 28th October 2009 3:18pm #UserID: 0 Posts: View All 's Edible Fruit Trees |

Jason says... I now realise why the dogs food bowl was always covered with slime marks. I cleared all the slugs from his dog biscuits that night it rained. 30 mins later another 4 or 5 huge slugs. Cleared them, 30 mins later some more. This went on until I had a baby formula tin full. Now in slug heaven (located down the side of the house, 1 ft deep) | About the Author Jason1 Perth 28th October 2009 5:00pm #UserID: 2491 Posts: 111 View All Jason1's Edible Fruit Trees |
