Please help!

I bought a double grafted apple (Granny Smith & Pink Lady)on MM 106 root stock. I attempted to train it into a fan against a fence, but the pink lady scion snapped completely from the rootstock. What should I do now? Do I need to disinfect the scar on the root stock and paint it? or should I wrap some tape around it to stop rain and dust get in?

Han..
