Grafted tree cincturing advice

Hi everyone,
I recently bought a Jackfruit tree and am interested in cincturing/girdling/ring barking it when it is older.
I couldn’t find information anywhere online or in the Daley’s video about cincturing a grafted tree.
I’d like to know if there are rules around whether the cincturing should take place on the rootstock or Scion? Is there one that is less damaging to than the other?
Any advice is appreciated ☺️
