Growing Blueberries in Nth Qld (forum)

I was wanting to grow blueberries in Nth Qld. Can anyone tell me if they will successfully grow here and if so which is the best variety?

Helen,I have heard from friends in Babinda and Cairns that blueberries bought at bunnings died pretty quickly in summer, but I know people grow them on the Atherton tablelands.I don't know the varieties people tried but maybe from Townsville south would be possible for the most heat and humidity tolerant varieties.

The variety to try would be Gulf Coast. After that (a long way after) maybe biloxi and sharpe blue.

Helen, a friend from mareebs said he can grow a few varieties but he fruit are very poor.He said Ravenhoe at 950m altitude can grow some varieties well.That would probably mean that north of the sunshine coast would be a struggle for them.
