How many hours of direct sunlight is equal to direct sun as per the label on the fruit tree. Will less direct sunlight mean less fruit?

Full Sun: 6-8 full hours of direct sunlight. Depending on the tree type it could mean less fruit, more prone to disease, fruit not ripening etc etc. IF you give us more information we might be able to be more helpful.

I am trying fruit trees in non ideal locations/ part shade etc due to space limitations in my garden. IF all else fails I prune the thing creating the shade in most cases. Depends what I want more.

Thanks Charles
I was contemplating putting stone fruit, plums, etc down the side of the house. Due to the houses, ours and the neighbours, being two story they would only get 2.5-3hrs a day. The other option is in the back yard ( nth facing) which has many very large well estabilished trees that shade most areas for at least half the day.
Oh yes next door is sucessfully growing Lilipilli in there space between the houses.
