How to identify Velvick avo (forum)

Hi

I have just acquired a property with a bunch of avocado trees of mixed varieties. I believe some of them may be velvick but have no way of being able to identify them. Is there some resource somewhere that I can use to identify them?

thanks for the link it has good info - but not about velvick :(

I'm not completely sure what varieties I have. I know I have hass, shepherd, fuerte, esdrinol and others rare varieties but apart from the hass, shepherds and fuerte but I don't know what the others are.

Yeah - Velvick is used as a rootstock for its salt tolerance not so much for phytophthora resistance but i believe it may have some - maybe a bit better than Reed as a rootstock. I got a Secondo from Daleys last year with Velvick and is doing well on a raised mulch mound but they also use Reed too alot. They put what they use on their tags.
