Can you please tell me when the beans are ripe. Mine have been on the tree for too long a time now,and are very hard and dry. I was waiting for them to ripen and maybe drop off, which they did not do. Do you eat the fleshy white part?

Jane, if they are really fat and round looking they are ready. They start off thin firstly and then "fatten" up. You eat the white "ice cream" that surround each seed, and then discard the seed. Mine started ripening about a month ago. It's a good thing they don't ripen all at the same time, I only pick a couple of bean pods at a time when I'm walking past the tree.
