Jan says... Hi Don. I'm not too sure, but is it possibly a Jackfruit. Haver you seen the tree with mature fruit before, or is this the first time you have seen it starting to fruit. If it is Jackfruit, the fruit will be massive. You will fall off your chair when you see how big they grow. kim says... Hi Don, I do not think it is a Jackfruit. It looks more like a fruit found in Malaysia and Indonesia called Buah Terap. I have never seen the tree but have eaten the fruit many times. It has an extremely strong smell when ripe and the flesh is very sweet. The seeds can be boiled or roasted and eaten too. Try googling buah terap and you can compare some of the photos there. Buah means fruit in Malay or Indonesian language. regards, Kim | About the Author kim2 greenbank, Qld 2nd February 2008 5:18pm #UserID: 128 Posts: 27 View All kim2's Edible Fruit Trees |
