Identify this moth? (forum)

au0rey starts with ...
Hi everybody, I am having caterpillar warfare in my NEW garden..lots of plants are under attack...recently caught two fat luminous ones and I kinda 'reared them' in a bottle till coccon stage and now they emerged as some moths.

Does anyone has idea what they are? I suppose they come at night to lay eggs?

Do you know of anything in the market that are safe and can deter moths/butterflies from laying eggs? I have started netting but I am a bit too late. Spraying is not a good idea since it is too hot and anyway they hide under leaves where the spray cannot get them.

Thanks!

au0rey, derris dust and pyrethrum are both natural, but kill rather than deter. Dipel is probably the most effective.

It is a sort of caterpillar disease, rather than a poison.Even if they are under the leaves, if they nibble the leaves they will eat it anyway.

If you buy some, best to keep it in the fridge, as it is a live bacteria.

As far as I know it is. Even if birds eat the caterpillars it doesn't harm them, that's why I like the idea. I have never read that it affects anything else - it's like giving caterpillars a deadly flu, which doesn't affect other species.
