Is my nectarine tree sick? (forum)

FrootLoop starts with ...
I noticed this sticky looking thing on the dwarf nectarine tree in October.. Now the branches above it have leaves that are deformed and drying at edges.
At first I thought the sticky thing is just sap. Now I am worried it is summer canker..
What should I do to look after this dwarf white nectarine from Daleys that we only had it for less than a year?
