I live on small acreage and have a huge crop of self sewn Jap Pumpkins with many, many pumpkins and hundreds of flowers and new, apple sized ones coming on. When can I harvest the larger ones? I have had to run over the outside runners several times with the ride on mower so my back yard is not totally overrun. They begain growing in my alpaca yard in the poo pile, it is like the day of the Triffids in my back yard.

I got a good crop of Jap Pumpkins on one side of the yard while the other side didnt seem to set fruit until recently. The new pumpkins are about softball size now. Will they get to full size and ripen now that the cool whether is arrived?
I am tempted to pull them up to make room for winter veges but the first pumpkins were a hit in the kitchen.
