Kestral seed potatoes

    1 responses

I am trying to source Kestrel seed potatoes (lowest GI for diabetics). Shop bought are treated as they sprout easily.
Western Australia has plenty but quarantine wont allow east coast shipment.
Does anyone know of a supplier on the east coast preferably Queensland.
Does anyone know a way to 'untreat' shop bought potatoes?
Thanks Lyn

In answer to my own question.
I bought Kestrel potatoes from Aldi.
I washed them thoroughly under running water for a few minutes, dried them off then put them in a dark cupboard until the eyes started to chit. I've planted 2 to a grow bag and at his stage they are large healthy plants. I am yet to see if I actually get any potatoes, only time will tell.
I hope this may help someone else....
