Hi Tasman

Yes definitely, you can grow macs in Tassie but, you have to cover them with Hessian cloth or equivalent during frosty nights when young. They will however be productive later about 10 yrs or more than their warmer situated counterparts. If you have the patience and countenance of a saint then go for it. The best variety for Tas is M. Tetraphylla the rough shelled mac

Happy gardening :-)

Thank you Fruitylicious.
I'll certainly give hem a try. I remember the wonderful crops that we had in Sydney. Unfortunately, the new owners of the property have grubbed them all out.

Hi Tasman

Obviously, the new owners are not very much of a fruit lover, or maybe they have nut allergy. Whatever their reasons for culling such lovely and productive tree is saddening for us fruitologists.

Happy gardening :-)
