Hi JC

I would say all mango trees can grow in Syndey's climate with some TLC . Basically if you can protect the young trees from frost for the first few years than it shouldn't be a problem after that. Once establised the mango trees will suffer from slight frost bite but will recover quickly after that ( This winter I experiened -4 which I think is as cold as it gets in Sydney). Ask yourself which mango you would like to eat and plant that manogo variety. You can get the common mango trees like Bowen and Kensington Pride anywhere but there are hundreds of different types of mango varieties to choose from but are very hard to get. I'm in Sydney and I've got two large unknown variety mango tree producing heaps of fruits . I'm planting a third one called the Kwan with fruits weighing up to 2 kilos. I have in pots and all purchased from Daleys are Nam Doc Mai, Dwarf Irwin, Florigon and Keow Savoey. All my potted mango trees are about 2 years old so no fruits yet. They put out flower blooms but it's best to cut it off for younger trees to help them get establish.
