mango tree

    2 responses

silvi starts with ...
I would like to plant a fruit tree for shade in my back garden.
if possible a mango tree as we do love to eat the fruits.
my question is : the ideal spot for it would be about 3 meters from
the house wall ......
is it possible to plant it there without doing any damage to the house as it grows to full size ?

Jim says...
3metres from the house is fine.
Its in a full sun position obviously due to you wanting shade.

3metres is adequate space and if it does creep a little close pruning is no issue.

Mango leaves being slightly heavier usually drop to the ground well but in windy condition you will get leaf litter in your gutters, safegaurd that issue and i think you will be fine.

thank you for your reply Jim.

I will buy myself a mango tree ( and a tall ladder to keep my gutters free of leaves)
I am sure the extra work will be well worth it

the roots won't do any damage to the structure of the house ?
