Mulberry fruit tree growth

    2 responses

Here are my two dwarf black mulberry trees. I bought one from the local market and the other from Daley's. One has a lot more fruit and the other has few fruit with lots of leaves. One is in a pot the other in the ground.
I wonder if you can guess which one is which.
Is this type of growth normal?

The one in more leaf is prob in the pot, the warmer soil may have got it started earlier in the season, hence the larger leaves.
The other plant has its tips just getting going.
One would expect the one in the ground to fruit better in the longer run but likely similar while you plant uses up the good potting mix vs the one in the bed which likely got less love in the planting process. ?

So yeah I would say its normal. Even though the plants is the same their roots have a totally different micro-climate/environment.

Actually the one with more leaves is the one in the ground. The other one in the pot has very few leaves but from each tip has about five - six decent size fruit growing.
It's very weird how although they are the same type of tree they are growing in total different ways
And I can't wait until they ripen so I can eat the mulberry goodness!!
