Luke Turner starts with ... Hi, I have a Nashi pear that is probably 3.5 mtrs tall and from talking to the neighbours is over 10 years old. We will get maybe 1-3 fruit a year. I have pruned the centre out of the tree and the growth was really good about 2 years ago. An ideas what may be hindering the fruit production? | About the Author Luke Turner South Gundurimba 10th February 2020 2:53pm #UserID: 21546 Posts: 16 View All Luke Turner's Edible Fruit Trees |
Fruitylicious1 says... Hi Luke, Even though your nashi is self fertile cross pollination will improve fruit production. You might want to acquire another different cv pear from yours like hosui, shinsui, chojuro or even packhams triumph to improve fruit production. If you don't have enough space for another tree try grafting those varieties that I have mentioned above to the limbs of your tree. Ask someone to do it for you if you don't have grafting experience. If you are up to the grafting challenges just Google how to do it, it's not that hard.
