natives for under deck

We have just had a new raised deck added to the back of our house, and wondering what you may have/can recommend for planting a low maintenance native rainforest-ish garden under it (3 x 3 m area, with a water tank in the middle). We are thinking a mass planting of one or two species, low growing (20-30 cm high) grass/lomandra type plants - but don't know what would survive the conditions. It is a covered deck, so low light, minimal water and is also poor soil!

It will be great to hear what you can recommend. Would ideally like to plant the area when the rains return, but would wait if you suggested plants are out of stock/season.

Most rainforest plants need full sun to grow and flower . I have grown rainforest plants in a small yard for over 20 years . The main thing with rainforest plants is they have timid roots so the area needs to be well dug up to around a spades depth . If it was myself i would use ferns . There are many native ferns , books on native ferns . Try Nurseries like fairhill at yandina or palms for brisbane at murrarrie .
