Razor starts with ... We have a couple of Nellie Kelly passionfruit vines that don's seem to be thriving. We planted them in August near some tomatoes and used Dynamic Lifter when planted. The leaves are a bit curled and being eaten by something that remains anonymous and they're just not too happy. Can anyone help please? | About the Author Razor bendigo 8th December 2009 8:05pm #UserID: 3084 Posts: 1 View All Razor's Edible Fruit Trees |

Jannette says... I planted a passionfruit vine last year and it was completely eaten by earwigs within two days. Planted the new one, and sprinkled tomato dust on all new leaves and around the base of the plant until the vine was big enough to survive, and also once our infestation of earwigs was controlled. Organic solution for earwigs: Jars at the base of trees and shrubs, half filled with water, and a dash of tuna oil (found in the fishing aisle of department stores). Earwigs are attracted to the smell, fall in and drown in droves! Only empty jars when getting too full, as the smell of rotting earwigs seems to attract more of them. | About the Author Jannette Christies Beach SA 28th December 2009 3:10pm #UserID: 1630 Posts: 9 View All Jannette's Edible Fruit Trees |
au0rey says... I have tried small containers of oil + water and managed to trap a few earwigs...but my dog just kept lapping up the containers! My vine is from seed and i wonder if grafted are stronger but looks like all are easy targets for chewing bugs...besides earwigs, i found that i have vine weevils attacking the leaves too and they leave notches around the leaf margins... I am still supervising the vine to see if it is really worth planting it..since i dont want one that will become leafless and die after being eaten! | About the Author Melbourne 28th December 2009 10:26pm #UserID: 0 Posts: View All 's Edible Fruit Trees |
