New apple trees die

    0 responses

I've planted 6 apple trees over the last two years. 4 have died. 1 is diseased but surviving. 1 is doing pretty well. Bark turns a different shade of brown and they die. I fertilize when I plant. I've sprayed with fungicide oil. Any advice? Is grafting to a hearty existing crab apple more likely to succeed?
