Bettybho starts with ...
I want to plant the Nightingale Persimmon fruit tree on the North facing side of my house in july.
I would appreciate any tips on planting this lovely fruit tree as I have had 2 non astringent cultivars die within 6 months after planting.
The soil is clay based but very well drained as I blanket compost up and down the side.

If that is the case, you should start young Persimmon in the large pot for a couple of years then transplant into ground when it is strong enough. My persimmon trees growth well on the clay soil after 2 years in the pot. See attached photos taken last year. Cheers
