Passionfruit (forum)

I am about to order some more fruit trees from you, and need to know whether we also require new passionfruit vines.
Our problem is that our 5 year old vines have hardly made any fruit this last summer after 4 good years, often with 2 crops (smaller 2nd one). Will they recover or are they now too old & it's time to replace them?
Thanks in advance for the help.
Regards,
Colin Freeman

Hi Colin,
Give them a good dose of potassium before replacing them, likely you've depleted the soil. Use either straigh sulphate of potash dug in and watered in well, or a good dose [+ repeat] of Yates soluble Fruit + Flower

Hi colin - if u are going to do as mike suggests then u may as well prune it too...Adelaide peter gives some great instructions over in the next column ("Most Popular") under passiflora varieties - look for dec 08 entry.
It's always a good idea to have a cupla new one's in the ground about now tho' (if u have room)..as yours will not last much longer :(
