I just received my order of Pigeon Peas today, and Im very excited. Does anyone know how far south they will reliably grow? Im in Sydney and can grow Cassava here no problem, although it does lose it leaves by the end of July.

If you need any replacements I have a constant supply of seeds throughout the year. Chickens love the green peas but you have to split the pods for them...

BJ..
Do you have to treat the seeds in order to get them to grow?
I have bought a packet of dry pigeon peas (for eating). Can these be sown too?
Thanks

Def dont require treatment. If they dry on the plant they are easy to harvest by crushing the pods in your hands. You can then just stick the dry peas in the ground and they'll shoot off in a few days-weeks. They go quick. You should be able to sow the eating peas and get them to grow, but I've never tried it - they've always been on my block and I have more than I could use. The King Parrots also seem to like them.

My pigeon peas were just planted about a month ago and the leaves are starting to go yellow from the bottom up. Does anyone know how I can stop this before it progresses any further and the plants die? I live in Melbourne.
