Plum too far gone?

Hi all. Here are my two plums (Mariposa and Santa Rosa) which I bought 2 years ago and planted straight in the ground. After a terrible year last year with disease, I trimmed it right back, including the dead wood. I have sprayed with copper through winter and the two trees are breaking bud now.

What do you think is the problem here with these leaves? They seem quite pale and a bit like they have chlorosis, although I suspect this is not the case. On one of these pics you will see that an entire branch is void of any buds or blossoms etc the tip of it - should I get rid of this?

Soil - Medium clay which drains okay. Mulched with wood chips.
Water - 2-3 watering cans per week at the moment.

Thanks all,
Ben

Hi Ben,

Plum is very easy to grow and does well in the clay soil. I suggest you water them every second day (2 buckets) and add 2-3 kg of dynamic lifer or Rooster Booster around the base as it looks like they lack of nutrient. Cheers
