Raspberry plants (forum)

I have a few questions regarding raspberry plants.
The intended spot for my plants will be morning sun to about 3pm, afternoon shade, site is about 3m x 0.5m, will they grow in rows? How many plants should I put in this space? What should I do to prepare the soil before planting, (I read peat moss will bring soil to the required Ph level)? a

I seen you have two varieties available, do these plants fruit a different times, which variety is better for brisbane, I read a few blogs on the forum saying that the heritage do well here. How old are the plants? will they fruit later in this year if planted soon? do heritage fruit twice annually like other varieties?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dave

Hi Dave

I haven't got many answers for you as I have only started growing raspberries this year. But I planted one Heritage Raspberry (which is suitable for Brisbane) in winter this year and I must have about 15 plants now. They seem to shoot out pups really quickly and easily.
The one that I planted already has flowers and I think fruit and only has one main steam. They need something to lean against. Mine are in about the same amount of sun as yours and are doing great.

Hope that helps you a little and good luck!
Christine
