Yet https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/houseplants/ponytail-palm/ponytail-palm-flower.htm has "The seed capsules on the ponytail palm flower spike are papery capsules." Are we talking about the same plant?

And daleysfruit also says the ponytail palm is related to the jelly palm, (Butia?), whereas wikipedia has it in the Asparagus family!
