Recommendation needed for feature tree in pot

iforgot starts with ...
I'd like some recommendations on a feature tree that's suitable in a large pot for SE QLD region.
It will be placed in a 5m*5.5m central courtyard surrounded by 3m tall window/wall on all 4 sides. Water access and drainage is not an issue.
Features I'd like:
1. no taller than 3m so leaves don't fall in gutter
2. In terms of style, we really like various Japanese cherry and maple bonsai look. But will consider other interesting shape(preferably naked trunk up to 1m)
