My pawpaw has about 8 fruit on growing well. Last year the possums or fruit bats got them before they were barely ripe. How can I prevent this happening this year ?

Advice from Leonie Norrington on Gardening Australia -
"Wrap some hard black plastic around the trunk and staple or tie it in place. This way possums can't get their claws into the tree to climb up to the fruit.
To deter birds and flying foxes, wrap the paw-paw fruit in geo-textile. Tie the fabric securely above the fruit and fasten it at the bottom with a bow so that you can easily undo the bow each day to check the ripening of the fruit."
Pillow cases work. or you can buy fancy exclusion bags online. (Am I allowed to post links to other shops on here?)
If I think something might be flying foxes I avoid netting. I worry they will get tangled and I don't want to have to free the disease-riddled flying-monkeys whilst they scream at me.
