Relocating an Avocado Tree (forum)

Narelle starts with ...
Recently my young, fruiting 4 metre high avocado was ripped out by a digger to make way for a new septic system. I have managed to rescue what I could and now have 1 naked trunk about 2 1/2 metres high and a root base of about 1 food in diameter.
Is it worth trying to replant it?

Yes, quickly, and try to stop the roots drying in the mean time. My neighbor told be in some places they transplant them as stumps. I wouldn't make yours into a stump though first. GOOD LUCK!! would love to see how it goes.

Hello,

Just wondered how your avocado tree recovered if it ever did and how long it took until tree started shooting out and showing signs of life?
We transplanted 2 large avocado trees 3 months ago. I pruned them back hard and seasoled them but they still don't look good. I am not giving up though because I have heard they can take a year to recover from the stress of removal.Any tips..?
