Remove a graft from multi-grafted plum (forum)

I have a three way grafted plum tree, about 10 years old. One of the grafts is very vigorous but also does not produce a significant amount of fruit. I am thinking of removing that graft by cutting it off with a saw during the dormant period. The remaining two grafts produce well. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience? Thank you.

Do you know what your varieties are? it would be a pity if you cut an essential pollinator, however if both the remaining plums flower at the same time they should be able to pollinate each other. w=When cutting off the wood cut it like any large pruning cut, cut the branch stump off as short as possible, paint with pruning paint.

Dear allybanana
A very good point indeed. No, I don't know what the varieties are. I shall wait until spring to check the flowering times. Thank you for advice about pruning as well. Much appreciated, thank you!
