Everything I plant in the garden dies, I have found out that the landlord has been using roundup every month for over 10 years. How long does it take to break down in the soil? The soil is not what you could call soil. What can I do to improve the soil for natives to grow?Everything I plant dies. Any info about what to do, would be greatful?

Barbara, Roundup is a glyco phosphate and basically a 'salt'. It disperses quickly and you can normally grow things immediately the weeds die.
I think the best thing is to get the soil tested. Most nurseries and Bunnings will do this for you. Would suggest you take surface and 15cm down as well as they can vary. Check with your neighbours to find out if your garden was land fill or back fill. Best of luck.
