I acquired one of these Drunken Parrot trees from a Queensland grower source. But I have a question that I hope you can help me with. It was planted between 5-10 years ago. Is positioned in full sun, is at least 12 feet tall. has healthy new leaf growth on most of the stems. Has not flowered as yet. Was wondering is it is a matter of it not being mature enough to perform its flowering? Are these trees slow to mature? Oddly enough this spring it sprouted a small clump of flowers right down at the base of the trunk.(?)

It is not uncommon for parrot trees not to flower soon especially if it is seed grown. Some reports indicated that their schotia has not flowered until after 9 years. It varies from tree to tree and geographic location. In your case it's just a matter of time. If you love birds and flowers it will be worth every second of the long wait. Enjoy the emerging flowers.
