Shrub ID

Although this is not a fruit tree question I was hoping that someone could tell me the name of this shrub.
It has long sharp thorns.
I thought that it may be a Bougainvillea but I also think that a Bougainvillea is a vine.

You'd be right, its a bougainvillea. Thorns, pink papery flowers. Very wild growing. and yes after several years they start to look like a tree/shrub. New shoots come out very rampant like a vine.
