Soil

    1 responses

Nemeton starts with ...
I have soil that is shattered rock and clay. I have removed the rock and added mushroom compost, garden compost, mineral rock and chook poo to enhance the soil. The Ph of virgin soil is 5.5 to 6.5. My problem is that after 4 or 5 years of adding the above to the soil at each planting, the soil is now very heavy sticky clay, almost like plasticine. Can anyone advise what is needed to bring it back to a good soil. I was thinking of adding river sand.
Thanks in advance.

Devon says...
Adding a lot of sawdust (chainsaw dust is best)adds a lot of carbon, and fosters worms, both of which will help.
