Weeping Peach Fruit Edible? (forum)

We have a weeping peach tree that we planted two years ago. This year we found 4 peaches growing on it. One fell off today and my dad opened it up and said it was very ripe and looked and smelled like a peach. He wanted to try it but we weren't sure if it is safe to eat. Are fruit from a weeping peach tree edible?
