Hi there, I belong to a community garden and we want to plant some native guavas. When is the best time to plant them?

Thank you for your time.
Hayley

Hi Hayley

Spring is the best. If you can't wait you can also plant at the start of autumn next month but, protect the newly planted guava during winter by erecting a frame with a plastic cover to simulate a greenhouse effect keeping the trees warm during freezing nights and early mornings. Also put some medium to large stones near the plant to warm them up during cold nights.

Happy gardening :-)

Native guava is the name given to a number of different plants, the most common being Eupomatia laurina and Rhodomyrtus psidioides.

These are relatively different plants, but both being evergreen, subtropical plants, any time from late winter through to early summer are the best, but it shouldn't matter what time you plant them if you give them a little love.
