Winter dead shade/Summer West Sun only (forum)

I have a small tricky bricked bed 1x3.5 that forms the entrance to my home. I want to plant something productive, but it sits dead south, it is in full shade in the winter due to the structure of my home. In the summer time, it receives the hot westerly sun in the afternoon, which burns all the shade loving plants. It is also receives exposure to a bit of wind due to being South.
Anybody have any scathingly brilliant ideas? I would be most appreciative for the input.

Monstera deliciosa (fruit salad plant) would be the safest bet but it is a bit fiddly to eat. I have a spot a bit like that It grows great stinging nettles in winter. very nutritious and low maintenance, just pick with tongs and cook well to nutalise sting, if these are not your cup of stinging nettle tea maby strawberry guava. It can handle both your extreams, a bit of hot wind and dry conditions and fruits in my garden when in semi shade under the bunya pine. It also has attractive evergreen folage. Maby plum or citrus could also work, does it get even an hour of winter sun mording or arvo.

Monstera is a childhood plant from the family home that I would never have... they're stinky. I thought guavas and particularly citrus must have the heat. In winter without sun, wouldn't they not flower?

well i grew up with them and still love them i dont think they are smelly but maby i am more smelly mysealf. Mabey zero winter sun could be a problem for citrus but we have a manderine with minnimal winter sun and it gives good fruit. Maby strawberrys or some deciduouse understory berry that dosenot need winter sun anyway. what about blueberries gooosberries boisonberries or maby american paw paw.

Hi Tangerine jewel - I'd give strawberry guavas a go - if nothing else they look good, are low maintenance and self fertile etc. It might not matter if u don't get a lot of fruit? They are quite full on - depends if u like guavas?
Blueberries, as allybanana suggests, may be your next bet - but u may need to protect the from the direct hot summer sun.
It's not a good spot for most fruiting things. Maybe annual food things that are decorative also eg: kale, lettuce etc?
