Pam starts with ... On the east coast of Tasmania we have some youngberries which over the past couple of years have started producing inedible fruit. The vine looks healthy as do the flowers but the fruit is all pips and very little flesh. I have looked in all my books and on the net and can only come up with Root Gall which would produce these symptoms but it is supposed not to exist in Australia. Any ideas? | About the Author Pam4 Melbourne 21st April 2010 10:49am #UserID: 3630 Posts: 2 View All Pam4's Edible Fruit Trees |

Charles cant spell says... Berries are bulk feeders they drain the soil, like with raspberries etc you should be removing and restarting (with fresh virus free stock), while we never did this on the farm in Pemberton you did have to feed the plant heavily with manure and organic matter (and that in great soil). Maybe you should dig them up move them to a heavily improved new location and see how they go. Otherwise if you dont want to risk infecting your new site, just get new younger berries and wait a year for them to get going again. If you are not feeding your plants try that first, also all pips etc might mean not enough water ? | About the Author Charlesstillcantspell1 Perth Innaloo 27th April 2010 11:49pm #UserID: 2742 Posts: 411 View All Charlesstillcantspell1's Edible Fruit Trees |
