I grow this as an experiment due to my climate. So I bought two star apple and potted up to a bigger pot. Its doing well past one winter, with protection in winter. I left it in front of my garage where it gets about 4hrs of sun during winter and I bring it in to the garage at night time. During summer it gets really hot so it gets about four hrs of morning sun and shaded the rest of the afternoon otherwise the leaves will get sunburnt. It loves water so during summer I sit the pots 1/4 submerged.

The Star Apple was a must have & not found locally. I was aware of your site & found it with GLEE!! Ordering was super easy & arrived in great order to Bowen. Initially the plant was put in a pot to establish further. We are quite aware of the maturity age & has joined it with other plants in our backyard. Our soil is rich, drained with loads of huge worms. We've staked the plant for now as we get some moderate winds. We sit with a beevie in the afternoons & look how our Star Apple progresses. Cheers

Takes about 8-10 years to flower. Fruit gets bigger each season. Regular organic fertilizer and plenty of water is needed. Ours is the purple coloured variety. I was very close to giving the tree the chop after 6 years of no flowers!

The timber is very brittle and branches tend to break off easily. Fruit is very hard to pick from a mature tree - it's a long, long way up!!!Foliage is pretty and when you see more brown than green, you know the tree is thirsty.
