Dwarf Persimmon - Ichikikijiro (NA)

Large, flat fruit of excellent quality, non-astringent and seedless when grown on its own. Being a dwarf variety it is well suited to backyards but is also a good commercial variety. Will fruit as early as March in the subtropics. Ichikikijiro generally produce only one flush of growth in the spring so don't be alarmed if your tree is not growing in summer, this habit contributes to their small stature.

A purple skinned variety with translucent flesh. The delicious sweet fruit has flavours reminiscent of grape and melon, however, fruit should be well-coloured and mature, as immature fruit are sticky with latex, especially near the skin.Star apples are very attractive as an ornamental specimen tree. A medium to large evergreen tree, its weeping form and glossy, velvet, green leaves, with a gold underside, gives the tree its ability to change from green to gold with a small wind.

Excellent flavour, bright skin and juicy flesh with few seeds, bearing a summer and winter crop. It exhibits more cold tolerance than other varieties. Carambolas are also called Star Fruit Carambola trees have an attractive weeping habit, producing a profusion of pink flowers. The foliage is delicate on young trees, and our potted plants are known for their older leaves to turn yellow and drop during transport to conserve energy. This is not a problem long term.
