Jujube - Redlands

Very large, sweet rounded fruit, ripening mid season and responds well to good growing conditions. It is a little similar to other Li and Shanxi Li types, in shape and flavour. A selection from Redlands, California that is very productive. Jujubes are well suited to the hot, dry conditions of inland Australia.

Vanilla Vine

The fermented pod of this climbing orchid is harvested from the Vanilla Vine or orchid, an aromatic sweet scents used to flavour cakes, and perfumes. Must be hand pollinated. The only insect capable of pollinating the blossom is the Melipona, a bee (see video) , native only to Mexico so all plants must be hand pollinated within 12 hours of the flower opening. The pods take nine month to develop.

A large, deep purple-red fruit. Flesh is deep crimson in colour, very sweet, juicy and of a delicious vinous flavour. Seeds not very hard. Good for juicing and eating out of hand. Plant is vigorous and productive. Best commercial variety in California.
