ants in citrus pot

bernadine starts with ...
I have an ants nest in my potted lime citrus.does anyone know how to get rid of them with out the use of chemicals???

Maybe if you water it a little more the ants will move out because they dont like moist soil. Well at least I hope that will work.

Thanks John - I was surprised that they were nesting there as the soil is so damp - but I put mulch around last week and that's when they seem to have moved in...
I have now noticed aphids and I know that ants and aphids go hand in hand - i am busy transferring ladybugs to the trees - I will see what happens.

bernadine if you put something sticky around the trunk, like a smear of vasaline the ants won't go up the trunk and start farming scale.
