Aphids and frogs (forum)

Major problem brewing here, the Tahitian lime tree has much new growth with the aphids following closely behind as usual.
I was out by the tree as the sun came up this morning in time to catch the morning parade of the baby green tree frogs as they came out to warm themselves. It was quiet extraordinary to see all these pairs of eyes poking over the leaves looking for the sun.
I need to kill the aphids without killing the frogs, so how do I do it.

Not sure if this will help or not but I planted oregano under my rose bush and have not has a single aphid for over a year....The oregano deters them.
Otherwise maybe some mild soapy water?.

Hi Wayne,

Soapy water will kill frogs. Anything that harms aphids will probably kill frogs. If you can catch the frogs and remove them from the tree while you treat the aphids, that would be one solution. If the aphids are not doing too much damage, you could hold off and let the frogs eat them. They probably won't catch all of them, but aphids are good baby frog food.

Diana.

Thanks for that info Diana, it would be impossible to catch that many so I'll just keep an eye on it.

Hi Wayne,
any chance you can get a hose there and jet water at the aphids? I did this a couple times to an infected hibiscus and it controlled them enough for the ladybirds to manage after that. The frogs might even enjoy what falls off
