Avocardos Dying

    3 responses

Hi I have grown these 3 Avocados from seed. About 8 weeks ago I planted them in the ground. I used good quality potty mix and planted them on a mound. Since then they have slowly deteriorate to near death. Number 3 still going ok. Can anyone suggest a solution? I think number 1 has been sun damaged.
Thanks Bek

Sunburnt at least from looking at pic4. The leaves and especially the base of the plant has been burnt so that it has turned brown. From looking at all your pics, the soil looked dried and that you haven't mulch around the plant.
I would suggest you 1) provide them with sunshade to stop the sun burning them to death, 2) mulch around the plant to keep their roots from overheating and also to retain moisture after your watering.

I totally agree with Avo and I may add, increase your watering schedule and paint the stem of your plants with whitewash.

Thank you for your advice. I've white washed the stems. Mulched the ground and fully enclosed with shade. 2 of them are going much better and the 3rd one has died. RIP.
