Bacon Avocado- fertilser ?

    2 responses

I purchased a Bacon avocado for the cooler weather of Melbourne. I put it in a larger pot in a protected area whlst getting established. The recent hailstones got to it and it lost leaves and looks a little limp. I tried some urea , as they supposedly like nitrogen and good drainage ? Any other thoughts to perk it up ? I want it fighting fit before winter !!

I've learnt that drainage is king with those mothers. You could spray on some phosacid. Something like Yates antirot is highly recommended for Avo's. You spray the leaves to help prevent root rot.

Agree with John Mc. Also keep the mulch away from trunk. Too much fertiliser will burn the young plant.
