Hi I am looking to buy mandarin and blueberry fruit trees
Can you please recommend which is the sweetest variety, also I live in Melbourne, so please suggest the sweetest fruit tree that suits our weather.
If I buy 3 Large fruit trees can I expect a bargain.
Thanks,

Hi Swap
Certainly, you can buy a bargain right now. Daleys have buy 3 get 1 free blueberry special. Just go to shop, under shop menu is specials and extras, under specials and extras menu is 'packs'. If you click on 'packs' just scroll down and you will come across all of their current specials. At the moment blueberry is one of their pack specials.
As for Mandarins, I have grown both Imperial and Emperor. They grow extremely well in Melbourne. The fruits are sweet and easy to peel which is excellent for kids and adults alike. They must be picked at the right time though to reach their full potential. Plant them in the sunniest spot in your garden with minimum wind disturbance and rich free draining soil. If you have a court yard, best. If possible prepare the soil in advance at least a few months with lots of aged manure and leaf litter for maximum result.
For blueberries they love acidic soil. The easiest way to do it is plant them in big pots at least 35-45 liters. Use 30% azalea and camelia potting mix with 30% pine bark, 30% perlite and 10% peat moss for a fast draining, acidic mix.
I have a five year sunshine and blue rose blueberries. They are still producing a lot of sweet luscious fruits full of anti oxidants. Lately, i have added blueberry 'burst' to my collection. So far i can't comment much about it except it's lush and healthy and it's still young for full fruit production. I'm sure other growers have their own favorite blues too.
Happy Gardening :-)
