KenW starts with ... I'm starting a blueberry patch in South-West WA, and trying to find a source of ericoid mycorrhizae (urgh! Hate that spelling!!). Anyone know if there's a supplier in Australia (or if we can import)? Alternatively, I realise there's a similar fungus which inoculates some of our Aussie heath plants, but don't know if it would work with blueberries. Anyone know? | About the Author KenW RIVERTON,6148,WA 16th March 2021 6:15pm #UserID: 26014 Posts: 2 View All KenW's Edible Fruit Trees |

KenW says... Thanks for the response Jakfruit...yes, I've spent many hours searching, but none of the commercial blends appear to contain ericoid m.f . Commercial growers in the US only appear to use ericoid m.f. (though many regions appear to have EMF occurring naturally in their soils). I have located suppliers in the UK and USA- but none in Aus so far. Would other fungi suit? As I understand it, blueberries and ericoid m.f have evolved a special inter-relationship which requires acid soil (ph 5.5). Also (and REALLY guessing here) I believe the blueberry roots are so fine that the larger (AMF) fungi are unable to attach. I'm happy to be corrected if I have this wrong! | About the Author KenW RIVERTON,6148,WA 21st March 2021 1:05am #UserID: 26014 Posts: 2 View All KenW's Edible Fruit Trees |
