Buds Disappearing (forum)

Black Sapote starts with ...
Each year our black sapote looks ready to give a great crop. Buds grow, then one morning nearly all are gone. Next morning all gone. Not on the ground, so presumably flying foxes or possums helping themselves. However, we really do not know. Any thoughts on the culprits and protection?
